HLTAID012 Course Information

This first aid course covers CPR, First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis for those working in an education or care setting. The skills and knowledge you will attain in this course will provide the correct first aid response for infants, children, and adults. This course contributes towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011). 

This is a 1 day course and will run for approximately 5-6 hours.

 

  1. - Assessment and management of emergencies and casualty
  2. - Apply life support skills by Resuscitation Council guidelines
  3. - Operation of automated external defibrillator
  4. - First aid management for an emergency
  5. - Infection control principles and procedures
  6. - Signs and symptoms of an asthma attack- mild, moderate and severe
  7. - Common allergic and non-allergic asthma triggers
  8. - Provide asthma first aid management
  9. - Use of asthma bronchodilator medication using a spacer
  10. - Develop risk minimisation and management strategies for asthma and anaphylaxis
  11. - Define the term allergic reaction/anaphylaxis
  12. - Recognition of allergy and anaphylaxis and those at risk
  13. - Signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction
  14. - Risk factors
  15. - Provide first aid management of severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
  16. - Action Plans
  17. - Use of adrenaline auto-injector devices Epi Pen® Ana Pen®

Where it all starts

HLTAID011 Course Information

This first aid course covers CPR, First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis for those working in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

The skills and knowledge you will attain in this course will provide the correct first aid response for infants, children, and adults. This course contributes towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

This is a 1 day course and will run for approximately 3-4 hours.

 

- Assessment and management of emergencies and casualty
- Apply life support skills by Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Signs and symptoms of an asthma attack-mild, moderate and severe
- Use of asthma bronchodilator medication using a spacer
- Develop risk minimisation and management strategies for asthma and anaphylaxis
